Charity Catwalk Event welcomes The Dressing Room Boutique

I'm now introducing the third fantastic business that's involved in the Charity Catwalk Event - The Dressing Room Boutique!

Based in Wigan town centre they specialise in making beautiful bespoke garments of all styles. I love how glamorous their clothes are and many are inspired by 1950's styles, with the big skirts and bright fabrics.

They have a beautiful collection of gowns ideal for any prom, wedding or special occasion - in fact I first came across them when my friend had a dress made to measure from them for my 1950's style wedding.

A selection of what they can offer will be shown on the catwalk but do remember they offer a made to measure service, and so you can take bits from each outfit to produce a dress perfect for you!

Check them out on their website or Facebook Page and don't forget to buy your catwalk tickets! (available via my website)

Charity Catwalk Event welcomes Cyanide Kiss

Hello! I hope everyone is loving this gorgeous weather, I definitely am!

I'm taking time out from the sunshine to announce the next fantastic business involved in our Charity Catwalk Event, which is Cyanide Kiss.

Here is abit about them:

'The Cyanide Kiss aesthetic is outrageously sweet, and girlie to the extreme, a nod to both the Lolita girls from Harajuku as well as the Rockabilly girls from Manchester, merging two styles from opposite sides of the globe.

Providing unique styles that you won’t see anywhere else. Inspired by the 40’s and 50’s and a love of vintage clothing and infused with a twist of Japanese street styles to create a unique style.

We were always drawn to unique styles, something a bit different from the mainstream, and wanted to reflect this in the clothes we make! We want to make quirky clothing for you for that special occasion, whether you’re looking for something for a prom, or bridesmaids dresses, we’re happy to work with you to provide something that’s perfect for your occasion.

All dresses are designed and made by the designer in her hometown of Manchester and can be made to order in custom sizes.'

Below are examples of some Cyanide Kiss dresses, they are just so cute and the shorter lengths provide a more modern take on the 1950's dresses.

I hope you like the dresses that you see and if you wish to order a bespoke dress you can contact them via Facebook or you can order your dress at the Catwalk event.

Charity Catwalk Event welcomes Juub Juub

Well, after months of planning, researching, contacting people and advertising to local businesses I can begin to introduce to you all the wonderful people that will be involved in the Charity Catwalk Show on 29th July 2012.

I am starting off by introducing one of the amazing vintage clothing companies that will be sharing their clothes with you in the show...and first up is Juub Juub!

Lauren contacted me direct after seeing details of the event online and was very interested in taking part. I love her story, her clothes and her business name and I am so happy to have her in our show, I just know you are going to love her too!

So here is a little bit abut Jubb Juub written by Lauren herself.

Juub Juub was founded by Lauren, an Englishwoman living in Bangkok, Thailand, who fell totally in love with the vintage markets and shops in this crazy city!  There are just so many beautiful and unusual vintage garments.  She collects pre-loved dresses from all over the world.  Sometimes it's very hard to part with these beautiful items, as she wants to keep them all!!  At the moment items are bought mainly from Thailand, however a lot of the items actually find their way here from Japan, Korea and Hong Kong.

Each item is individually hand picked, and if necessary laundered and professionally repaired.  Juub Juub specialises in dresses: everything ranging from formal and evening wear, cocktail dresses, day dresses, sun dresses, and house dresses.   We also sometimes find other little beauties, such as jump suits shorts, shirts, skirts and jackets, belts, jewelry and other accessories.

Juub Juub's garments are good quality and unique, with Asian designers often putting a quirky slant on their designs.  So if you like to be an individual, stand out from the crowd, or to own beautiful one-off, one-of-a-kind clothing... then Juub Juub is the place for you.

Did you know...?

'Juub juub' (จูบจูบ) means "kiss kiss" in Thai.  It is a phrase commonly used between lovers, friends and close family members to express affection.  For example, at the end of a text message, letter or email in England we often write "xx" to give the reader a couple of little kisses.   However, in Thailand friends and lovers will often say "juub juub" to be cute or charming when they say hello or goodbye to their loved ones!

So, how excited are you to see the clothing and accessories that Juub Juub has to offer! I know I certainly am, and having been to Thailand myself and experienced the markets I can just picture the stunning garments that she has to show us.

Lauren has shared a few photographs with me as a sneak peek:

Juub Juub is just one of the fabulous businesses that we have involved in the Catwalk Show, and I will be blogging about each separately over the next few weeks. We have a variety of Vintage and vintage inspired and some with a modern twist - so we really have something on show for everyone and I'm sure the event will be worth every penny!

Tickets are only £20.00 and that includes a £5 donation to UNICEF as well afternoon tea (a selection of sandwiches, cakes and tea), live entertainment, express make over opportunity and some gorgeous stalls selling hand made products.

Tickets available via my website www.polkadotsandpearls.co.uk and click on upcoming events.
